A Polish music performance hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland. It celebrates the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Poland, and also the 75th anniversary of the birth of maestro Penderecki,
one of the greatest composers of the 20th and 21st centuries

Maciej Tworek
 
Born in Tarnobrzeg, Maciej Tworek studied piano with Prof. Jan Hoffman at the Academy of Music in Kraków in the years 1988-91, in 1992 he graduated from the Department of Music Education, and in 1996 he completed his studies of composition at the Department of Composition, Conducting and Music Theory of the Academy of Music in Kraków, in the class of Prof. Józef Radwan.


He participated in conducting master courses held by Helmuth Rilling, Roger Norrington and Kurt Masur. As a conductor he cooperates with Krzysztof Penderecki.


In 1998 he received a distinction at the 2nd National Witold Lutosławski Young Conductors' Competition in Białystok, and in 2002 he participated in the International Conducting Competition The Maazel/Vilar Conductors' Competition(semi finals).


He has cooperated with numerous ensembles, such as : National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, The Hilliard Ensemble, Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, Astana Philharmonic Orchestra, Łódź Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir, Białystok Philharmonic Orchestra, Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra, Rzeszów Philharnonic Orchestra, Świętokrzyska Philharmonic Orchestra, Beethoven Academy Orchestra, Camerata Janáček, Polish Radio Choir, NDR Chor, Pro Arte Chamber Choir, Kraków Academy of Music.


In 2003, together with the Chamber Orchestra of the Kraków Music Academy, he participated in the Festival Junger Künstler in Bayreuth.


In 2008 he prepared the Teatr Wielki-Polish National Opera Orchestra for the European premiere of Krzysztof Penderecki's Symphony No.8 under the baton of the composer. In the same year he toured China with Capella Cracoviensis Orchestra.


Presently he is Assistant Professor of the 1st Faculty at the Academy of Music in Kraków and the conductor of Capella Cracoviensis.
